Forum Rules and Guidelines

Welcome to the Mental Health Zone, a community that allows for the safe and anonymous discussion of a wide variety of mental health issues and support to those that struggle with mental health conditions. These rules and guidelines will establish the baseline for discussions and conduct while on this forum. If you see anything that is cause for concern, you always have the option to report it, and you are encouraged to do so.

Guidelines

Please follow these guidelines to help keep our community a safe and friendly place:
  • Be respectful: Don’t post or private message anything that could be considered abusive, demeaning, or hateful.
  • Be thoughtful: Don't post or private message anything that could possibly harm others.
  • Be courteous towards each other: Be friendly, helpful, and supportive. Don't harass, insult, or put down others.
  • Protect your privacy: This is a public forum, which means that everything that you post will be available for anyone to see. Don't reveal any information, pictures, or specific details that can be possibly traced back to you.

Posts that may be modified or deleted

The following types of posts are likely to be modified or deleted:
  • Posts containing personal insults, attacks, attempts at provocation, or flaming
  • Sexist, racist, homophobic, or transphobic posts
  • Sexually explicit or obscene posts
  • Posts containing offensive or harmful material, including explicit descriptions of self-harm methods, pro-anorexia posts and mention of suicide methods
  • Posts mentioning private information of someone that could be identified
  • Religious preaching/proselytising
  • Posts that are not relevant to the forum topic
  • Advertising and spam
The above list are only some of the things that may be deleted and isn't exhaustive. The administrators and moderators of this forum reserve the right to edit or delete any post for any reason.

Posting of photos and images

We do not allow the posting of photos of members and/or their friends and families for privacy reasons.
Links and any quoted text also need to be accompanied by additional thought, discussion, or comments.

Accounts

Members can only have one account. You have the option to self-delete your account, but it will only be deleted after 14 days, just in case you change your mind.

Using private messages

Private Messages are a useful tool for connecting with others that are going through similar situations, and even establishing friendships. However, do not use the private message system to send unsolicited advertising, spam, sexually explicit content, or for the purposes of performing online therapy.

Restriction of forum privileges

We reserve the right to put forum members on moderation and/or remove their access to the private messaging system at any time for any reason.

Following guidelines

If members do not keep to these guidelines, they are subject to being verbally warned, to receiving a warning, all the way up to being removed from the community.

Other important information

Personal safety

Do not post anything which could lead to your identity becoming known or something that could risk your personal safety. If you have done so, please report the posts and they will be dealt with as soon as possible. If you feel that you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number.

Online safety

If you are ever concerned about your safety while using our forum, please report the offending posts. This not only keeps you safe, but other members too.

Be careful who you trust online

Please do not give out any personal information such as your name, address, phone number, or e-mail address when using the forum’s private message system until you've gotten to known them well. There are people out there with many motives and you never know who's behind the screen. You should be extra careful if you're going to meet up with people as well, as you may not know them as well as you think you do.
